This week has marked 1 year since my husband started chemo. It’s hard to believe so much has happened in just 365 days. Such a short amount of time compared to the span of a life, but big things can happen in a little snippet of time.
My emotions have been all across the board. Allen went in for his PET scan on Monday and since my kids were sick (my oldest daughter stayed home from school to do breathing treatments), I had to send him alone. That was hard for me. Not only because he has a huge fear of needles, but because the scan itself is a big deal. I was proud of him for conquering that visit to the cancer center on his own. We had to wait until today to meet with the oncologist and review the results of the scan. Although cancer isn’t something that’s always lingering in the back of our minds, when it came time for his first post-cancer scan, we had 3 whole days to be anxious about it. Right when our oncologist entered the room, he asked Allen how he was doing to which my husband responded, “I don’t know… you tell me!” The doctor responded, “You’re fine!” and we were both relieved! There wasn’t anything irregular with the scan and his blood work looks normal, too. It was such a blessing to hear that news just a few hours ago!
I’m completely grateful for a healthy husband who has been through some of the hardest things I have ever witnessed and stands today healthy + healed. It truly is a miracle.
So today I want to celebrate + share something fun with you! Here’s a free print for you to enjoy. I encourage you to give to someone as a gift, too! Let’s share some love + good cheer! It’s amazing what an act of kindness can do for someone, because we never really know what other people are going through. But I promise everyone has their struggles. Have a great weekend, y’all!
